the video footage coming out of Japan is otherworldly. we don't have TV, and so have been checking the Guardian website for int'l news; they are showing amazing helicopter-recorded video of the sea and the waves. for those of us who feel a kinship with the sea, even the stormy sea, this display of power is enough to make you sink to your knees and beseech the gods. an immediate reaction of futility.
Dear John, Elisabeth, Antares Cryptos, Susan & Melissa - in the absence of words and in the face of such devastating power what we can do but drop to our knees and offer up small prayers? Love, love, love. XO
The [previous image] driftwood sculpture before the waves bound my thoughts & emotions most with Japan. That would be my "prayer" -representation of faith: that human construction before all that sea. And on we go.
We awoke to this News -- earthquake, tsunami.
ReplyDeleteCandles are lit, prayers are being said.
Be safe. All in NZ.
John
It's frightening, the world over these cataclysmic events. Each one reverberates with the other.
ReplyDeleteFor those of us who are onlookers, it helps to light a candle.
First NZ now Japan. Science gives me grinding and shifting tectonic plates.
