Claire,
I don't know if you've seen this project already, but I found it today and thought of you: http://www.behance.net/gallery/Enlightened-Souls/2511063

It's called "Enlightened Souls" and it commemorates the victims of the Christchurch earthquake.

What a remarkable piece of art. This really makes me want to start that mixed media project. So very inspiring. Patience, indeed. ;)

Just wondering about you.

Hi Elizabeth - I am similarly in awe and am surprised anew each time I watch this. . .

Claire Beynon said...

Dear MG - you know all about beautiful and beautifully made books xo

Claire Beynon said...

Hello, T - and yes, it is ; )

Hi RachvB - yes, I have seen this and been moved by its power and poignancy. Thank you for sharing the link here. xo

Hi Kass - it's really good to see you're back. Thanks for coming by. We do this as the need arises, I think (take a turn to sail away, then back - whether planned or otherwise?).

I so admired the blog you posted when you broke your silence some months back.

Although I'd def. not anticipated 'sailing off the map' as I did way back in November (without explanation, a lunch box or compass), it proved to be a trip well worth making. Slowly, slowly we make our return?

hi Jayne - I love the many ways in which patience imbues this work, the likelihood it could not have come into form without it. . .

Claire Beynon said...

. . . and Jayne . . . have you had a chance to embark on your multi-media project? I wish you inspiration ; )

Dear Map - mesmerizing and a meditation, yes. (How often do I spell 'meditation' 'mediation'? Might the two words be considered kindred?)

Ant. C - Hello. You're a trooper for asking. . . 2011 was unusual to say the least - a year of monsters and miracles. All is ultimately well, thankfully. WIth you and yours, too, I hope? As I noted in my first thin post since being away 'Oops, how did that happen?' I'd not intended to disappear without an explanation (I'm also not sure I've entirely reappeared yet, either, but we shall see. . . ). I'm a slow creature these days and appreciating moving at a more measured pace. How are you?? I have popped into your blog, too, where I sense something similar-but-different is occurring. . . Warm wishes to you, wherever you may be - Claire

Dear Rach - I am well, thank you.

Happy New Year to you, too - you have been in my thinking, too. BlessyouBigTimeforyourRachelness. xo

Hello dbs - thank you for your wondering. I hadn't realized how much I needed some 'away' time; it's been exploratory, entertaining, instructive and much more besides. I imagine some of it will start appearing in the page (here?) in time. . .

Your blog continues to inspire and delight me.

It should say nothing at all but the photos remind me a little of Cape Breton Island, one of my favourite places.

Hi dbs - in my humble opinion, anything that happily reminds us of places we've been to and are fond of should be spoken out loud ; )

A friend from Maine spent time on Cape Breton Island some months back - and loved, loved, loved it there. We are drawn, it seems, to places the world over that carry the same 'key note'? Sometimes it really is as though we're all one land mass, joined at the hip. . .
